BMW M3
Production : 1986-present
The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW
3-Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M. M3 models
have been derived from the E30, E36, E46 and E90/E92/E93 3-series, and sold
with coupé, saloon and convertible body styles. Upgrades over the
"standard" 3-Series automobiles include more powerful and responsive
engines, improved handling/suspension/braking systems, aerodynamic body
enhancements, and interior/exterior accents with the tri-colour "M"
(Motorsport) emblem. Over the years the M3 and M5 have become the benchmark
vehicle against which most sport sedans in its class are compared despite
fierce competition from Mercedes-AMG and Audi quattro GmbH
The
soul of Formula M: reloaded. The BMW M3 Convertible.
A thrilling combination of racing
car technology and exhilarating open-top driving. The BMW M3 Convertible offers
first-class, open-air driving all year round with a retractable hardtop that
can be opened and closed in just 22 seconds. Also awaiting your command: the V8
high-rev engine with up to 8.400 rpm which is transferred by the double-clutch
transmission M DKG Drivelogic to the M differential lock and then to the rear
wheels without the slightest disruption to tractive force. And a chassis that has
mastered the ultimate test on the Nürburgring's legendary Nordschleife. For
efficiency without any waste the BMW M3 Convertible is equipped with an Auto
Start Stop function, a BMW EfficientDynamics technology that switches off the
engine when the vehicle comes to a standstill.

German automaker,BMW, is ratcheting
up the promotion of their highly anticipated special edition M Performance
models. Now, the British market has received a very cool M3 M Performance
Edition - a model priced at £74,080 (about $115,000 at the current exchange
rates).
The new BMW M3 M Performance Edition
comes with an impressive list of standard equipment including: 19" M
Y-spoke Matt Black alloy wheels, Dark Chrome exhaust, side gills and kidney
surround, jet black bonnet intakes, carbon-fiber front splitters, high-gloss
Shadow-line exterior trim, folding exterior mirrors, and sun protection glass.
Next to these impressive elements,
the BMW also features a very impressive list of technologies free of charge
(sort of speaking, considering the car’s price). Those technologies are
adaptive headlights, DAB digital radio, a Harman/Kardon 13-loudspeaker system,
BMW Professional Media Package, mobile application preparation, telephone USB
audio interface and Internet.
Under the hood, the M3 keeps its
usual 420 HP V8 engine combined with a standard seven-speed M DCT transmission.
The majority of the M3’s chassis is constructed from lightweight aluminum,
helping to keep the weight down and the handling reflexes sharp. Also
contributing to the M3’s agile dynamic character is a near perfect 51/49 front
to rear weight distribution. Reminiscent of the carbon fiber roof panel used on
the M6 coupe, the M3's carbon fiber roof cuts unnecessary weight and lowers the
car's center of gravity. It also lets the roof edge appear flatter and thus
lowers the perceived body height.
